The Research and Development Cell (RDC) of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in collaboration with United States-India Educational foundation (USIEF), Kolkata jointly organized a webinar on Fulbright-Nehru and other related Fulbright fellowships offerings for 2024-25 cycle. Public Relation Officer (PRO) Md. Mudassir Alam said that from CUSB the Director of RDC Prof. Durg Vijai Singh hosted the webinar who gave the introductory remarks about the fellowships. Prof. Singh said that such information sessions will serve as a catalyst to promote the academic culture and bright minds will immensely benefit from the academic and cultural exposure that they will get in the United States of America.
Further, Mr. Sumanta Basu, Senior Program Manager, USIEF, Kolkata made a detailed presentation on the topic. He said that the Fulbright Program is one of several United States Cultural Exchange Programs with the goal to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. The program was founded by United States Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946 and is considered to be one of the most widely recognized and prestigious scholarships in the world. Fulbright-Nehru Awards enable the most outstanding students, academics and professionals in India and the U.S. to study, research and teach in the host country.
Dr. Ram Pratap Singh, HoD Life Science, who is also a Fulbright Fellow, shared his Fulbright experiences with the participants, and motivated the participants to apply for Fulbright Fellowship. Around 100 participants, including faculty members and research scholars participated actively in this information dissemination session. They felt motivated to know about how to apply for these academic and professional development opportunities in the United States of America. USIEF – a binational organization of Government of India and US Government has been administering these fellowships in India since 1950. Since its beginning till date more than 21,000 fellowships have been administered by USIEF.
