Constitution Day Week Celebration at CUSB, November 22-26, 2023

The School of Law and Governance (SLG) of the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India celebrated the Constitution Day. Under the guidance of VC Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh various academic programs are being organized between 22nd to 26th November under the Constitution Day week. The coordinator of various programs organized during the week was Mr. Mani Pratap (Assistant Professor) while the program coordinator was Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava (Head & Dean, SLG). All the activities during the week was organised on the theme “Constitution Values and Fundamentals of the Constitution” during the Constitution Day week. Under the Constitution Day week, quiz competition, essay writing competition, extempore, PIL drafting competition, poster making competition on social topics, rangoli, webinar were organized and the Preamble of the Constitution was read on 26th November.

Day 1: Constitution Day week was formally inaugurated on Wednesday (22 November) with an essay writing competition which was coordinated by Dr. Surendra Kumar (Associate Professor).On this occasion Prof. Pawan Kumar Mishra, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dr. P.K. Das, Dr. Poonam Kumari, Dr. Digvijay Singh, Dr. Dev Narayan Singh, Dr. Pallavi Singh, Dr. Anant Prakash Narayan, Dr. Anurag Aggarwal, Dr. Neha Shukla, Dr. Chandna Suba etc. were present.

Day 02 (23 November) : On Day 02 of the Constitution Day Week, the extempore and poster making competition were organized under supervision of coordinator Dr. Deo Naraya Singh in which a total of 24 participants took part. A total of 19 participants participated and the judges were Dr. Kafeel Ahmed Naseem (Assistant Professor, Urdu), Dr. Parijat Pradhan (Assistant Professor, Sociology) and Dr. Anil Kumar (Assistant Professor, Sociology). A total of five participants of the poster making competition displayed their art and the coordinator of this program was Dr. Chandana Suba. The jury of the poster making competition included Mrs. Renu and Dr. Neha Shukla.

Day 03: On Friday (24 November), Rangoli making and PIL drafting competition was organized on the topic of Constitution Values and Fundamentals of the Constitution in which 33 students participated. Rangoli competition was based on various aspects of Unity and Diversity while PIL drafting competition was based on river pollution (environmental protection). Dr. Poonam Kumari, coordinator of the PIL drafting competition, said that in this competition, PIL drafting was done on the environmental damage caused by digging in the Falgu river. Rangoli competition was also organized in Vivekananda Auditorium whose event coordinator was Dr. Anurag Aggarwal.

Day 04: The Constitution Day Week on Sunday, November 26 with a Preamble reading and Webinar.  On the occasion of Constitution Day, mass reading of the Preamble of the Constitution was done at the CUSB gate. Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Head and Dean, School of Law and Governance, delivered the introduction speech. After this, a webinar was organized on the topic Constitutional Values and Fundamentals of the Constitution. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh said that every citizen of the village should participate in the Constitution Day. He further said that as a result of the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and with the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India, Constitution Day is being celebrated.

In the webinar, Prof. SK Bhatnagar, former Vice Chancellor, Ram Manohar Lohia University and Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor National Law University, Tripura spoke on the values of the Constitution. He said that democracy helps in saving values and with the help of values humanity is protected, that is why values should be saved. Pro. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava said that emphasis should be laid on procedural justice only then real justice can be achieved.

In the webinar, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Digvijay Singh, Shri Mani Pratap presented the webinar theme, moderation and formal vote of thanks respectively. Meanwhile, Mr. Mani Pratap, Assistant Professor, coordinator of the program organized on the Constitution Day, said that a quiz competition was also organized among the school children in Dariyapur, a village adopted by the university. In this, as a reward to the meritorious students, Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Dr. Digvijay Singh, Dr. Dev Narayan Singh, program coordinator Mr. Mani Pratap gave general knowledge book, pencil box, pen, etc. as prizes to the children. On this occasion Prof. Brajesh Kumar, Prof. Rati Kant Kumbhar, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Digvijay Singh, Dr. Dev Narayan Singh, Dr. PK Das, Dr. Poonam Kumari, Dr. Anurag Aggarwal, Dr. Chandna Suba, Agnimitra, Sadhna, Suruchi, Raja, Dayasheel, Karnika etc. were present.
