A special lecture on “Tracing landscape changes and climate-culture evolution in Eurasia” was organized by the Department of environmental Science, School of Earth, Biological, and Environmental Sciences, Central University of South Bihar on 26th September, 2023. The event was patronized by Vice Chancellor Prof. K.N. Singh and chaired by Prof. Pradhan Parth Sarthi, Head of the Department of Environmental Science, CUSB. The event was initiated by the lamp lightening and welcome session of special guests: Dr. Joyanto Routh and Dr. Thanh Duc Nguyen from Linkopings University, Sweden. The guests were felicitated by Prof. Pradhan Parth Sarthi and former dean Prof. Ram Kumar. After the welcome session, the dais was taken over by Dr. Joyanto Routh.
Dr. Routh delivered a special lecture that delved into the intriguing nexus between climate change and archaeological evolution. He masterfully connected the dots between climate-driven transformations and the fascinating histories of the Jiroft civilization in Iran, as well as the Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa Civilizations in India. Dr. Routh also shed light on the key objectives and Aim of the ongoing project funded by the Swedish Research Council, sealed with an MOU with CUSB. The project aimed to study the impact of Household Air Pollutants (HAPs) on the women working under fumes that come from the burning of solid fuels. The project has identified Bihar as a hotspot region that is largely affected by chronic diseases.
The session was further moved forward by a detailed question-answer session by students, professors, and Dr. Routh exchanging insights and knowledge. This dynamic interaction between scholars and learners elevated the event’s success. The program was hosted and organized by Dr. Rajesh Kr. Ranjan under the blessing of the honorable vice chancellor, Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, CUSB. The whole event was concluded by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Prashant, which encapsulated the gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Joyanto Routh’s enlightening discourse. Prof. Pradhan Parth Sarthi, the Head of the Department of Environmental Science at CUSB, expressed profound appreciation for the distinguished guest speaker and conveyed heartfelt thanks for the special lecture.
