Pre-Placement Talk by Mr. Nasir Hasan about Piramal Foundation Gandhi Fellowship

A career orientation program cum pre-placement talk for MA Sociology and MSW students was organized by the Department of Sociology, Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on December 21, 2023. Mr. Nasir Hasan, Senior Program Leader, Piramal Foundation, expressed his views in the session as the guest speaker. The session was organized under the supervision of Professor Atish Parashar in the Department of Mass Communication and Media of the University. The session was conducted by University Placement Coordinator and PRO Mohammad Mudassir Alam. 

The session in the Department of Sociology started with the introductory remarks of Dr. Jitendra Ram, Assistant Professor and Placement Cell Coordinator of the department. He introduced the basic objectives of the program and also spoke on various initiatives of the department for the students regarding career counselling. Mr. Nasir Hasan, Senior Program Leader, Piramal Foundation focused the students on several aspects related to education – Together, they talked about various topics like health, water, climate change, community development, employment, skills etc. He said that people’s lives changed after the Covid 19 pandemic. Apart from this, he also highlighted the initiatives of Piramal Foundation in the field of education and fellowship for students. According to Mr. Hasan, students should work on improving their skills along with employment.

Mr. Hassan also focused on skills and subjective knowledge which includes knowledge and theory and soft skills like communication, speaking, listening, active listening, critical thinking, social networking, working under pressure, willingness to learn in the field. Students should explore the website of the organizations in which one is interested to apply for the position in the organization.

Faculty members of the department Dr. Samapika Mahapatra, Dr. Jitendra Ram, Dr. Haresh Narayan Pandey, Dr. Aditya Mohanty and Dr. Priya Ranjan were present in the session. Finally the vote of thanks was proposed by Alia Arfin (MSW student).
