National Legal Services Day celebrated by Legal Aid Clinic of CUSB

The Legal Aid Clinic of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya has once again, undergone its annual reconstitution to serve the society with its objective of “Campus for Community” the very altruist promise made by Prof. (Dr.) Kameshwar Nath Singh (Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of South Bihar).  The Legal Aid Clinic of School of Law and Governance of CUSB observed the celebrations of annual National Legal Aid Services Day on 9th November 2023 and as an addition to the major celebrations, the Legal Aid Clinic has also successfully conducted its Orientation Session and welcomed its new members.

The event was graced by the imminent presence of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Prakash Shrivastava, Head and Dean of School of Law and Governance, CUSB, Gaya, along with the faculty Co-ordinators of legal aid clinic Prof. (Dr.) Surender Kumar, Associate Professor, CUSB Gaya; co-coordinator, Prof. (Dr.) Chandna Suba, Assistant Professor, CUSB Gaya; and Prof. (Dr.) Anant Singh, Assistant Professor, CUSB Gaya.

Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Srivastava (Head & Dean of School of Law and Governance) discussed the importance of the free legal aid and appreciated the significant role of Legal Aid Clinic in providing aid to the depraved, weaker and marginalized sections of the society. He further emphasized about the significance of National Legal Services Day and briefed about the imminent history behind it.

The Faculty Coordinators of the clinic extended heartfelt greetings to all the newly appointed members, shared the experience of running the clinic for previous years and shared their goals that they are aiming towards in the course of the upcoming year. Also, Dr. Surendra Kumar discussed about history and significance of National Legal Services Day that is celebrated in India to commemorate the adoption of the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987. He motivated students to raise awareness about the availability of free legal aid for all citizens and shared his expectations from this newly selected committee and praised the dedication and hard work of the previous committee members.

The reconstituted clinic has a change in its committees and for the upcoming period, the clinic will serve the society through its six committees including the Organising Committee, Drafting Committee, Nukkad Natak Committee, Poster Banner Committee, Campaign Committee and Media Committee and its esteemed and competent members.
