As part of the National Road Safety Week celebrated across the country, several programs were organized to spread awareness at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB). In this sequence, a special lecture was organized under the aegis of the Medical Council of India in the Vivekananda Auditorium of CUSB on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Chief Guest Lieutenant (Dr.) Colonel Ashok Kumar, Officer Commanding, Classified Specialist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery delivered the lecture. In the program organized under the leadership of Registrar Colonel Rajiv Kumar Singh, Finance Officer Mrs. Rashmi Tripathi, Controller of Examinations Dr. Shanti Gopal Pain along with heads of various departments, professors, officers, employees and students were present. The program was formally inaugurated with the welcome speech of System Analyst Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh in which he introduced the chief guest and greeted the people present in the auditorium.
In his lecture, the keynote speaker Lieutenant Colonel Ashok Kumar introduced various aspects related to road safety. He said that one should always follow traffic rules while driving or walking on the road. Lieutenant (Dr.) Colonel Ashok Kumar said that seat belt should always be used while driving a car, while one should never ride a bike without a helmet. He advised to take necessary precautions while screening a documentary based on road safety. Along with this, he also shared many personal experiences related to his career and gave tips to take immediate steps in case of an accident, which can save someone’s life. Lieutenant (Dr.) Ashok, through a presentation, shared pictures of the treatment and surgery of some of his patients involved in the accident. In the end, the people present in the auditorium asked many questions to Doctor Kumar.
At the end, Colonel Rajiv Kumar Singh, in his presidential address, expressed his gratitude to the keynote speaker and advised the employees to follow the traffic rules while traveling to the university. He said that ‘life is at stake’ hence one should not rush while traveling to office or any other place as there is a possibility of an accident. The program concluded with the ‘Road Safety Pledge’ composed by the Medical Council of India.
