Param Hansa Philanthropies (PHP) is a private foundation focusing on life science research to improve the quality of human life. PHP aims to partner closely with universities, scientific research start-ups, and research organizations to solve healthcare-related problems. With this motive, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, trained as a professional social worker at TATA Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and working in the public health field and Director of India operations of PHP, visited the Department of Biotechnology and other laboratories of CUSB.
During an interactive session with faculty, he focussed on Inter-institutional and Interdisciplinary collaboration. To foster efforts in computing and life science space, PHP supports young Scientists, Postgraduate and Postdoctoral students by giving grants in computational oncology. Their focus is on breast, lung, and oral cancer. During his visit, he emphasized that PHP and CUSB will work together shortly for translational research.
Prof. Durg Vijai Singh, Director of the Research and Development Cell, organized the meeting under the aggies to encourage collaboration across industry, government, community-based organizations and agencies at the local, national, and international levels. Prof. Rizwanul Haque coordinated the meeting between CUSB and PHP. Faculty from the Department of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Life Science, Physics, Chemistry, Pharmacy, and Computer Science participated in the discussion.
